Ah Chef, you bought a tear to my eye talking about your mum. God bless you and thank you for your amazing talent. I always thought working with isomalt was something outside of my skill set but once again, you have broken a project down into easy steps and given me the confidence to believe that I can attempt to have a try.
Thanks and good luck. Make sure to take precautions when you work with Isomalt.
one question is the stem from a silk flower or is it a real live stem.
Stem from silk flowers . Green plastic coated wire.
enjoyed your tutorial. Did not know about isomalt very interesting I must try and make a rose. thank you
This is the first time that I’ve seen a tutorial on isomalt so I have a few questions if you don’t mind:
1- What material is best for the cup to be made of: plastic? glass? ceramic?
2- Is there a danger that the cup might explode in the micro?
3- Can the cup be cleaned afterwards and if so how?
4- Is there any other way of attaching the petals besides the use of an open flame?
5- Is isomalt edible in the sense that someone might enjoy eating it? Would it melt in the mouth like a hard candy?
Sorry for all my questions. I do find this process fascinating … if a bit frightening.
Wonderful tutorial as always, Chef!
1.Ceramic
2.No
3.Boiling in water
4.Dipping in melted isomalt but open flame is practical.
5.Yes but isomalt melt slower and much more harder.
