Learn how to make a cat and dog topper on a cake.

I made this cake for my granddaughter who madly loves cats and dogs but of course it’s great for any animal lovers out there. When we’re thinking about what cake to make, we quite often have two ways to go. Either we make a 3D cake, or we model sugar figures and place them on a cake. For this tutorial I chose the second option because I wanted my granddaughter to be able to keep the topper after the birthday party. Not to mention that I don’t think she would have liked the 3D cake option because we would have to cut the cat or dog in order to eat it.

What you’ll learn…

  • Modelling animals in parts and assembling them.
  • Making wood texture marbling effect.
  • Making a cat stand (non-edible).
  • How to easily make a ball of wool.
