From a simple sand texture to a sunken shipwreck scene — build seaside cakes wave by wave.

You’ll start right at the shoreline, learning a quick and convincing sand texture before putting it to work on a simple beach and surf cake with a hand-shaped surfboard, seashells and a starfish made without special cutters or moulds. From there you’ll carve your first 3D shapes with a friendly fish cake, then step up to a two tier beach cake where sand, sugar branches, shells and starfish all come together in one design.
The middle of the journey builds your modelling and sculpting confidence: a full 3D swordfish with airbrushed detail and a hand-made eye, a characterful sugar crab, and a collection of five ocean themed birthday designs so you can pick the marine creature you love most. Then you move into scene building, creating a fondant seascape with a yacht, dolphins and seagulls where you’ll layer background, middleground and foreground waves and airbrush water and foam.
The final two projects are full underwater worlds: a seahorse couple topper surrounded by coral, shells, seaweed and a turtle, and a two day sunken shipwreck cake complete with masts, anchor, chain, stingray, ferns and pastillage coral. It suits decorators who can already coat a cake neatly in fondant and want a seaside speciality for summer birthdays, coastal weddings and diving or fishing themes. By the end you’ll be able to design your own seascape, from a relaxed sandy shore to a dramatic wreck beneath the waves.
