Carve, coat and chrome your way from a working digger to a concrete truck with a spinning drum.

Industrial vehicles are the ultimate test of a decorator’s engineering brain: big chunky forms, deep treaded tyres, silver-sprayed pipework and dozens of small pastillage parts that all have to line up. This pathway builds that skill set in stages, starting with a classic 3D digger where you’ll work from templates, carve and shape the cake, coat it in black and yellow, cut windows and wheel arches, and assemble the scoop, air filter and exhaust.
From there you’ll step up to a mining dump truck built over two days, learning to make a tray, wheels and control room and bring them together cleanly. The semi trailer truck adds a three day build with pipe parts, mirrors, a front grill, mudguards and silver spraying, while the tank introduces hand-made treads, a gun barrel and a softer decorative finish with sugar flowers and branches. The journey finishes with the concrete truck, the most involved build of all, where you’ll design moulds and templates for a spinning pastillage drum, layer ganache, fondant and pastillage coatings, and complete a full undercarriage assembly.
It’s made for decorators who are comfortable carving, layering and masking a cake and want to move into serious sculpted work. By the end you’ll be able to plan a piece of heavy machinery from a reference photo and build it in cake and pastillage with convincing scale, sturdy assembly and believable metallic detail.
