Few cakes turn heads like a boat. Across six tutorials you’ll build the core skills of marine cake work: carving and masking a hull that reads as a real vessel, planning and cutting pastillage decks, rails and balustrades, cutting clean rows of portholes and windows, staining faux timber, and finishing with convincing water, foam and wake.
This pathway is for decorators who are comfortable layering, masking and coating a cake and now want to tackle sculpted projects with lots of prefabricated parts. You’ll start with a friendly fishing boat, move through a sleek yacht and a speed boat with a figurine and interior detailing, then step up to sails, gold trimmings and multi-deck construction.
By the end you’ll have carved five very different hulls and completed the full 3D Galleon Ship
ation masts, rigged sails, rope ladders, cannons, balustrades and waves
ation and you’ll be able to plan any boat or ship cake from a photograph with confidence.
