Journeys, Certificates, Badges and Credits

We’ve spent a long time quietly building four new things into Yeners Way: Journeys, Badges, Certificates of Completion and Credits.
The short version: you watch tutorials, tutorials add up to journeys, journeys and the things you do here earn badges, badges pay credits, and credits unlock more tutorials — which are yours to keep. Here’s each piece.
Journeys
Everything else hangs off these, so let’s start here.
A journey is a set of tutorials gathered in a sensible order — chocolate work, sugar flowers, cake construction, and so on — taking you from the first idea to something you could put on a table. It takes the guesswork out of what to learn next.
There’s nothing to enrol in. You’re already on every journey, and your progress fills in by itself as you watch. Start one, leave it for three months, come back, and it’s exactly where you left it.
Finish every tutorial in a journey and it’s complete. You earn that journey’s badge, and the credits that come with it. Longer journeys credit more.
You can see every journey, and how far through each one you are, on the Journeys page.
Badges
Badges mark the things you’ve done here.
Some are for finishing journeys — one for each. The rest are for the things that make this place worth being part of: saving tutorials to come back to, leaving a comment, telling somebody about us, writing a review.
Each of those runs in five steps, at one, five, ten, twenty-five and fifty, in bronze, silver, gold, platinum and amethyst. Favourite a single tutorial and you’ll pick up Budding Collector before you’ve really noticed. Keep going and there’s a long way to climb.
They arrive on their own. There’s nothing to claim and nothing to apply for — the moment you’ve done the thing, the badge is yours and you’ll see it appear.
And it stays yours. We never take a badge back. If you finish a journey and we add another tutorial to it next year, your badge doesn’t wobble — you finished the journey you finished. Unfavourite something, and the badge you earned along the way is still there.
More will appear as time goes on. We’ll keep adding new badges, so there’s always something further on to aim for.
Most badges carry credits with them. You can see everything you’ve earned, and everything still to earn, on My Badges.
Certificates of Completion
Watching is one thing. Making it is another, and that’s what a certificate is for.
Watch a tutorial all the way through, then go and make the cake, and send us your photos from the tutorial page. Serdar will look at every submission personally and when it’s approved you get a Certificate of Completion with your name on it, ready to download, print or show a client.
Each approved certificate earns credits too. Yours live on My Certificates, along with a full record of everything you’ve completed as a single PDF, whenever you’d like it.
Credits
Credits are how the time you spend here turns into more to watch.
You earn them for staying subscribed — they land on the same date every month — and for the things you do while you’re here: earning a certificate, completing a journey, finishing a premium tutorial, and earning most badges.
Spend them on any tutorial you don’t already own. What you unlock is yours permanently: it stays in your library for good, even if your subscription ends one day. It’s essentially the same as purchasing the tutorial individually.
Nothing expires. There’s no deadline, no use-it-or-lose-it, and no penalty for saving up for something bigger.
Your balance, what you earned it for, and what every tutorial costs are all on My Credits.
If you were already here
Credits only started counting from the day we switched them on. That would have meant members who have been with us for years starting level with somebody who joined last week, which didn’t sit right with us.
So we’ve added a one-off loyalty bonus to every existing member’s balance, worked out from how long you’ve been with us.
One thing we should be straight about: we moved Yeners Way onto a new system about two years ago, and the original join dates didn’t survive the move. The bonus is worked out from that point, so if you’ve been with us longer than that — and plenty of you have, some for a very long time — the number doesn’t show the full picture. We couldn’t recover what we couldn’t see, and we’d rather say so than hope nobody noticed.
It’s already there — you don’t need to do anything. Go and have a look, and spend it on something good.
We hope you enjoy it all — and as always, thank you for being here.
